Sports News. Virat Kohli made a big record in the 20th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, 7 April 2025. In this match, he created history by becoming the second fastest batsman to complete 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. Kohli achieved this feat during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI).

Earlier the achievement was in the name of Chris Gayle

Before Virat Kohli broke this record, this achievement was in the name of Caribbean legend Chris Gayle, who touched this milestone while playing for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2019. Now Kohli has joined the list of batsmen who have scored 13,000 T20 runs along with legends like Gayle, Alex Hales, Shoaib Malik and Kieron Pollard. Virat Kohli achieved this feat in 386 innings of 403 matches, while Chris Gayle made this record in 389 matches. Other names in this list include Alex Hales (478 matches), Shoaib Malik (526 matches) and Kieron Pollard (668 matches).

Kohli in great form

Kohli is looking in great form in IPL 2025. He has scored 97 runs in the first three matches at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 134.72. Against Kolkata Knight Riders, he played an unbeaten innings of 59 runs off 36 balls, while against Chennai Super Kings, he made a significant contribution to his team's victory by scoring 31 runs.
